Salkantay Trek Description:
This trekking expedition is one of the most pictures trips offered in Cusco region which will take you close of the sacred
Salkantay snow peak (6,271 meters / 20569ft), one of the highest and most stunning in the Peruvian Andes, passing through Quechua communities and lesser-known Inca ruins, to finally reach Aguas Calientes on the fourth day. The impressive Sacred Inca city of

Salkantay Trek Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Soraypampa - Huayracmachay
We will leave Cusco at about 05.00 for the 4-hour bus ride to the Mollepata District. We will arrive approximately at 8.30 a.m. in Mollepata. Here we will have an excellent American breakfast. After the breakfast we drive 2 hours with an open truck reaching almost Soroypampa. Here our horses and horsemen will be waiting for carrying our camping-equipment and food. We will pass the campsite of Soroypampa. After we will continue our walking to Salkantaypampa, where we will have our lunch. We will walk for a few hours, to the Salkantay snow covered mountain, with an altitude of 4650 m.s.n.m., the highest part in our trip to Machu Picchu. We will see here the spectacular view of the Andes, the flora and the fauna typical from this region, including the beautiful Laguna Soroycocha. After we will be going down to Huayracmachay, the place of our first campsite. Here we will have dinner and spend the night in our tents.
Day 2: Huayracmachay – Salkantay Pass - Chawllay - Collpapampa – La Playa
After an early breakfast at 6.00 a.m. we will start our day walking to la Playa, Chaullay, Colpapampa, Wiñaypuquio, and Lluscamayu. We will have lunch in one of these campsites. After lunch we will walk for more than four hours before arriving to La Playa village where we will set up our camp, and where we will have dinner. On this trip we will see many kinds of tropical plants, like oranges, bananas, avocado, papaya, lemons, and others.
Day 3: La Playa – Hydroelectric - Aguas Calientes
After an early breakfast in La Playa we will take a local transport for approximately one hour to Santa Teresa District. After arriving to Santa Teresa we will cross the river and walk to the Hydroelectric Train Station for having our lunch. At 3.25 PM we will take the train to Aguas Calientes, which will take 45 minutes. In the evening we will be having a menu in a nice restaurant in Aguas Calientes. In the night you will have here the possibility to visit and enjoy the hot springs.
Day 4: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco
Early after breakfast you will take the bus to Machu Picchu (20 minutes) to visit the Machu Picchu Citadel and hike the Huayna Picchu to receive the cosmic and tellurics energy that the Sacred Apu has.
